Of the numerous ol’ sayings and phrases that were passed down through generations of southern women in my family, “Never underestimate the power of a handwritten note,” was the one that really stuck. As a kid, I couldn’t have imagined how relevant that phrase would eventually be to my career.

I graduated from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide) in 2008, and after a quick peek into the Richmond, VA real estate development industry, I moved to New York, NY and earned a degree in graphic design from Parsons The New School For Design.

After graduating from Parsons, the thought of staying in New York wasn’t necessarily at the forefront of my mind, but a quick cup of coffee with a client’s friend led to an interview with a magazine at Condé Nast. Three days later, I started my first day of work as a designer for GQ. Three-and- a-half years later, I had an itch to move back down South and eventually landed at Garden & Gun. I have loved planting my roots here in Charleston.

Now, I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the Mac & Murphy team. People say that laughter, love, and happiness are contagious—I couldn’t agree more. From the moment I stepped foot into the store, seeing the paper, gifts, card wall, and bright smiles on Liz and Lacey’s faces brought that ol’ saying back to mind. Two hours later, I put pen to paper using my new Arzberger stationery, and the rest is history.
